Comments: Many years ago Jon attended our one-week TEMI Inhouse just before he started Hirosawa English School. He had confidence and experience teaching adults but wanted to develop his skills teaching children. My staff and I were so impressed by his enthusiasm and positive response to everything we shared with him; we found him to be a natural teacher with a wonderful sense of humor. The week flew by too quickly for all of us; we were sad to see him leave. But our loss has been Hamamatsu’s gain. He and his wife have proven to be a dedicated team and have created a superlative school with an outstanding system and a loyal student body. We are proud to have been able to contribute in a small way to their success.

Comments: Regis de Lavison is one of Fukushima’s foreign treasures. He is fluent in three languages and has a “sixth sense” about teaching language to Japanese.
It was my honor to attend the opening of his school AGORA. When I passed through the entrance to the school, I was overcome with awe. So much time, effort, creativity, ingenuity, and passion was put into his school for the benefit of his neighbors in the community. He has an outstanding, dedicated staff. AGORAis a true gem in Fukushima.

Comments: Lourdes Kato attended my first teacher-training seminar in Tokyo in
1997 at Sophia University. A strong typhoon hit Tokyo that day, and a
third of the attendees cancelled. Lourdes was one of the people who made
it. I remember clearly her eyes aglow the whole seminar. She diligently
took notes and asked many questions. Her goal at that time was to teach
English to her daughter.
Lourdes has come a long way since that rainy day in 1997. She is now,
without a doubt, one of our most talented and successful TEMI teachers.
She built BEC English school on her own incorporating many TEMI methods
and Little America materials. Her students adore her. She is also a
pillar of strength for public schools in Hamamatsu, encouraging,
training, inspiring and helping Japanese teachers in the community. I am
happy to add her daughter is now fluent in English. Lourdes has done it
all. I am in awe of her and proud to have helped her get started.
